How do I book my travel dates after I activate?

Great question! It is simple, all we ask is that you give us a minimum of 30 days advance notice to secure your travel dates. This means, for example, you can book dates starting 31 days from today or 45 days from today, 90 days or more. All you will need to do after activating the voucher is log back in from the link in your email receipt and begin searching for your preferred travel dates. Once you choose the dates you will be shown the participating hotels/resorts based on availability for your chosen dates. We recommend searching midweek travel dates or Sundays through Thursday check in dates and avoid weekends and holidays as these may have fewer hotel choices or may not be available. Can I travel with my children?

No sorry, these travel incentive vouchers cannot be used for groups of more than 1 room. The hotels that are offering this promotion will honor only one voucher package per family, friends, acquaintances or known groups traveling on the same, similar and/or overlapping arrival and departure dates. There are additional costs associated with group travel. They also will not be available to use during conventions or other special events.

Group travel bookings risk all reservations being canceled, this is one rule that many try to circumvent and we strongly recommend that if you need more than one room you only use one travel voucher and purchase the additional rooms at our discounted rates. What are the cancellation and refund policies?

Once activated the travel incentive will provide you with 18 months to travel and you will be able to choose from all available destinations to find travel dates and participating resort/hotel options. The activation fees are non-refundable and once travel dates are confirmed no changes are allowed. Cancellations after dates are confirmed will result in forfeiture of the activation fees. (The inventory used for these rooms are not as flexible as booking at regular retail rates, once confirmed changes will not be allowed and cancellations or no-shows will result in forfeiture of fees paid) If optional upgrades are selected the cancelation or rescheduling policies will depend upon the individual participating hotel.

Every Filipino awaits the Ati-Atihan festival as one of the most exciting events of the year. It is held every January in the town of Kalibo, Aklan, as a way to honor Santo Niño (Infant Jesus). Despite its religious background, the festival is very colorful and full of entertainment. According to history, Aetas or Ati were the primary settlers of the islands of the Philippines. The festival usually includes tribal dancing and traditional music, performed by people wearing indigenous costumes and weapons. Also, there is a huge parade along the streets. Still, a key activity of the festival is the music of rhythmic and mesmerizing drums, which plays nonstop for several days.
On the day of the festival, many people attend masses for the Santo Niño. The formal opening mass is followed by a procession with Santo Niño through the major streets of Kalibo featuring rhythmic drumbeats, and snake dances. On the second day, visitors can attend a rosary procession, which ends with a community mass. On the last day of the festival, various tribes compete for prizes. After the competitions end, thousands of people take to the streets carrying torches and images of the Santo Niño. The winners of the contest are announced, and a masquerade carnival starts to mark the official end of the holidays.
The biggest celebrations of Ati-Atihan are held at Kalibo Pastrana Park and Magsaysay Park through the entire holiday week. Don't miss the annual Parade of Giants, A whole day Sadsad Pagpasaeamat street dancing and Balik- Ati-Atihan Contest.

Flores de Mayo and Santacruzan – A Filipino Tradition celebrated in May
In the Philippines, there is an abundance of flowers during the month of May. The first of May is an important day throughout the Philippines as it heralds a merry month of fiestas, flowers, dainty maidens in a pretty gown, and the twin processions of the Flores de Mayo and the Santacruzan.

Filipinos celebrate a tradition known as Flores de Mayo by a daily offering of flowers to the Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus, throughout the month of May which climaxes on May 31 with a glittering procession of sagalas at a Santacruzan procession.
The Santacruzan is a Spanish legacy that commemorates the discovery of the True Cross by Reyna Elena or Queen Helena of Constantinople, the mother of Emperor Constantine. According to legend, Constantine the Great was converted to the Christian faith through the vision of a flaming cross in heaven, which is said to have led him to victory in battle. Queen Helena, the first Christian empress who was canonized after her death, led a pilgrimage in search of the Cross and claimed to have found it in Jerusalem in AD 324 and brought it back to Rome.

The custom and celebration began after the proclamation of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception in 1854 and after the circa 1867 publication of Mariano Sevilla’s translation of the devotional “Flores de María” or “Flowers of Mary”.

A Santacruzan is a religious-historical beauty pageant held in many cities, towns, and even in small communities throughout the Philippines during the month of May. The celebration that was traditionally a religious affair has evolved into a paramount social event today. Many movie and television personalities participate in the events and are featured in major santacruzan.
Throughout the archipelago, every town and barrio stages its own Santacruzan which is the last celebration before the monsoon rains arrive in June. The fiesta is managed by a sponsor called Hermana or Hermano mayor, who recruits pretty girls to be the sagalas (maidens).
